Port na Spaniagh, Causeway Coast

It was here, in Port na Spaniagh, in 1588 that the galleass of The Spanish Armada, La Girona, foundered on the rocks as it made its way eastward along the Irish coast resulting in the loss of 1300 lives.

Artifacts and gold from the shipwreck are on display in The Ulster Museum in Belfast.
