Fanad Lighthouse, Donegal

Fanad Head lighthouse is situated at the northern tip of Fanad at the mouth of Lough Swilly where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. The lighthouse was built in 1817 after the Saldana ship was wrecked on the rocks below with the only surviver being a parrot. The lighthouse was increased in height in the 1880s
